Do You Make a Hard Bar?

This is a common question I get about my handmade soap. Many handmade soapmakers brag about how long their soap has been sitting on the shelf and curing. Typically they will say they have a nice hard bar of soap that lasts a good long time. Personally I prefer a bar of soap that is a little bit soft. One that has extra soothing oils that act as an emollient to my skin. I like the feel of a soft bar of soap that might not last as long as a hard bar, but gives my skin a real feeling of luxury. Make sure you use a good soap dish with this type of soap so the water runs away from the bar and does not soften it any further. Buying soft wholesale soap will save the difference you lose by buying a hard bar. The internet is the great equalizer for checking prices, especially for handcrafted items. Check around to get the best wholesale prices for handmade soap.

 Wholesale Soap

Remember to price your soap so as to allow for 100% mark-up for the retailer.. If you don't you have very little chance of the retailer carrying your product. $6.00 retail equals $3.00 wholesale. Requiring minimums is the way to get the volume needed to make up for smaller margins.
